Understanding Your Monthly Quota & Usage
Learn how our usage-based billing system works and how to track your usage
Our platform uses a flexible usage-based billing system that gives you 400 included units per billing period, with seamless on-demand billing when you exceed your allowance. Here's everything you need to know about how it works.
Billing Windows & Allowances
Your billing cycle is determined by your subscription period, not calendar months. Each billing period includes:
- 400 Included Units: These are free units that come with your subscription. They reset at the start of each billing period.
- Billing Window: Your billing period runs from your subscription start date to the end date (typically monthly). Usage is tracked within this window.
- Automatic Reset: When your billing period ends, your included units reset to 400, and a new billing window begins.
Example: If your subscription started on the 15th, your billing window runs from the 15th of each month to the 14th of the next month. Your 400 included units reset on the 15th.
How Usage-Based Billing Works
When you use up your 400 included units, you automatically switch to on-demand billing. Here's how it works:
Included Units (Free)
The first 400 units you use each billing period are included with your subscription at no extra cost. These cover:
- Image generations (varies by model quality)
- Mockup generations (always free)
- Other platform activities
On-Demand Billing
Once you exceed 400 units, additional usage is billed at £0.05 per unit. This includes:
- Automatic billing when you exceed your allowance
- No interruption to your workflow
- Billing thresholds: Charges are processed in increments of £10 to avoid large end-of-period bills
- Set spending limits: Control your maximum monthly spend
BYOK (Bring Your Own Key)
If you're using your own API keys for certain services, those generations are tracked but don't count against your allowance or incur charges. They're marked as "Included" in your usage reports.
Understanding Unit Costs
Different image generation models consume different amounts of units based on their quality and capabilities:
Premium Models (4 units each)
Higher quality models that produce superior results:
- Google Imagen 4 & Imagen 4 Ultra
- Ideogram V3 Quality & Balanced
- OpenAI DALL-E (GPT Image Gen 1)
- Seedream 4
- Gemini Flash 2.5
Default Models (1 unit each)
Standard quality models that are more cost-effective:
- Google Imagen 4 Fast
- Ideogram V3 Turbo
- Seedream 3
- Flux Schnell
- Photon Flash
- Nano Banana (for image editing)
Mockups Are Always Free
Mockup generation never consumes units or incurs charges, regardless of your usage level. They're always included at no cost.
Using the Usage Activity Card
The Usage Activity card in your dashboard provides comprehensive insights into your usage patterns. Here's what you can track:
Summary Tiles
Quick overview metrics at the top:
- Total Events: Number of usage events and total units consumed
- Images Generated: Count of image generations with average units per event
- Mockups Generated: Count of mockup generations (always free)
- Listings Published: Breakdown of Etsy and Shopify listings
Daily Activity Chart
Visualize your usage over time with an interactive line chart showing:
- Daily image generations (blue line)
- Daily mockup generations (green line)
- Daily listings published (orange line)
- Hover over data points to see exact values
- Chart automatically adjusts Y-axis scale based on your data
Tip: Use the date range selector (1d, 7d, 30d, or custom) to view different time periods.
Activity Breakdown
Expandable section showing detailed counters for:
- Images generated
- Mockups generated
- Listings published (with Etsy/Shopify breakdown)
- Upscales performed
- Other event types
Event Log
Detailed table of individual usage events with:
- Date & Time: When each event occurred
- Event Type: What action was performed (e.g., "image generation", "mockup generation")
- Model: Which AI model was used
- Units: How many units the event consumed
- Cost: Billing status:
- FREE / Included - Used included allowance
- £X.XX / Billed - On-demand charge
- Included - BYOK or system event
Note: Events are paginated (10 per page) with navigation controls. Use "Load more" to fetch additional historical events.
Allowance Tracking
The card displays your current billing window and allowance status. You'll see something like: "Allowance: 250 / 400 units (63%)" showing how much of your included units you've used.
Date Range Selection
The Usage Activity card allows you to view usage data for different time periods:
- 1 Day: View today's activity only
- 7 Days: View the past week (default view)
- 30 Days: View the past month
- Custom Range: Select any start and end date to analyze specific periods
Important: The date range selector shows usage for the selected period, but your billing window (for allowance calculations) is always based on your subscription period. The card displays both pieces of information.
What Happens When You Use Up Your Quota?
When you exceed your 400 included units, here's what happens:
- No Interruption: Your access continues seamlessly. You can keep generating images without any pause or waiting period.
- Automatic On-Demand Billing: Additional usage beyond 400 units is automatically billed at £0.05 per unit.
- Billing Thresholds: Charges are processed incrementally. When your on-demand usage reaches £10, an invoice is created and charged immediately. This continues every £10 to prevent large end-of-period bills.
- Spending Limits: You can set a monthly spending limit in your account settings to control your maximum spend. You'll be notified as you approach this limit.
- Reset at Period End: When your billing period ends, your included units reset to 400, and a new billing window begins.
Best Practices
- Monitor Regularly: Check your Usage Activity card regularly to stay aware of your consumption patterns
- Set Spending Limits: Configure a spending limit that matches your budget to avoid unexpected charges
- Choose Models Wisely: Use premium models (4 units) when quality is critical, and default models (1 unit) for faster iterations
- Plan Around Your Billing Cycle: Know when your billing period resets to maximize your included units
- Use Mockups Freely: Remember that mockup generation is always free and doesn't count against your allowance
